if you’re looking for a powerful web analytics solution, you may want to consider Clicky.

This is a web hosted stats service that requires you to embed a short piece of JavaScript code at the bottom of each of your webpages to track visitor activity. You can then log on to the getclicky.com website to access your stats.

You may find that you already have webstats supplied with your web domain, or you may be using the popular Google Analytics package, but Clicky gives you services over and above these two.

As with most analytics packages, you can view; visitors, where your traffic is coming from, which pages of content are most popular, incoming links, keywords, campaigns and browser types. Where Clicky is slightly different, is that you can see your results in real time (including a live Spy service). You are also able to compare today’s performance against yesterday’s, look at outbound links and Twitter action.

The Clicky website is exceptionally well laid out and presents the information in a far more friendly format than you’ll find with Google Analytics. Whoever has designed the Clicky interface clearly comes from a web marketing background, as the tabs and menu options are very webmaster-friendly.

Below is a quick screenshot of clicky in action, but for the full effect you are encouraged to give it a try. With our clients, we now more or less exclusively using Clicky due to the power of the built-in tools, the user-friendly interface, and the addictive Spy functionality.

This extra functionality does come with a small pricetag though. If you run a small site, with less than 3000 pages viewed per day, you can use the free version of Vlicky. For some of the more powerful features, you may need to step up to either their Blogger or Pro packages. The good news is that the blogger package weighs in at under $30 at the time of writing, supports three websites, and will allow you to track up to 10,000 page views per day — good enough for the average blogger or small website.
